Working with tools in CorelDraw _ Part 4
Pick Tool
Selects objects or groups of objects. Once selected, you can use the Pick Tool of move, stretch, scale, rotate, and skew objects.
Shape Tool
Reshapes
objects. Objects are reshaped by moving nodes, lines, and control points.
Smudge Brush Tool
Change
the shape of an object by dragging along its outline.
Roughen Brush Tool
Distort
the edge of an object by dragging along its outline.
Free Transform Tool
Rotates,
skew, mirror and scale objects.
Crop Tool
Remove
the areas outside a selection.
Knife Tool
The
Knife Tool slices a line between two points across a line or a closed object.
Slice an object to split it into two separate objects.
Eraser Tool
The
Eraser Tool disconnects line segments or parts of an object by removing them.
Remove unwanted areas in a drawing.
Virtual Segment Delete Tool
Delete
portions of objects that are between intersection.
Zoom Tool
Changes
the current view of the drawing. You can also select magnification options from
the Property Bar in the Zoom mode.
Pan Tool
Drag
hidden areas of a drawing into view without changing the zoom level. Allows you
to move about the page with precision. With a work area of 250 feet , it is easy to get lost. This allows you to move the page as if you
could use your hand.
Freehand Tool
Draws
lines and curves. You can also use this tool to trace bitmaps. The first tool
on the Curves fly out is used for creating freehand lines (similar to
scribbling). While holding the Control key your lines are constrained to
15-degree angles. This helps you draw simple straight lines. Draw curves and
straight line segments.
2-Point Line Tool
Draw
a straight line by drawing from the starting point to the end point.
Bezier Tool
The
second tool on the Curves flyout is used to create curved lines by using
special control points. The Bezier
Tool creates curves by adding control
points to the line segments. These control points are used to bend the lines as
you draw. It is one of the more difficult tools to use. Draw curves one segment
at a time.
Artistic Media Tool
Add
artistic brush, spray and calligraphic effects by using freehand strokes. The
third tool on the Curves Flyout acts as an calligraphy pen, a paint brush or an
image sprayer.
Pen Tool
The
fourth tool on the Curves Flyout allows you to draw curves one segment at a time.
It is similar to the Bezier tool. Draw curves in segments, and preview each
segment as you draw.
B-Spline Tool
Draw
curved lines by setting control points that shape the curve without breaking it
into segments.
Polyline Tool
The
fifth tool on the Curves Flyout allows you to draw connected straight lines and
curves one segment at a time without double clicking. Draw connected curves and
straight lines in one continuous action.
3-Point Curve Tool
The
sixth tool on the Curves Flyout allows you to specify both the height and width
of a curve as you draw it. It works very much like the 3-point ellipse tool.
Draw a curve by dragging from starting point to the endpoint and then
positioning the center point.
Smart Fill Tool
Create
objects from overlapping areas, and apply a fill to those objects.
Smart Drawing Tool
Converts
the freehand strokes you draw to basic shapes and smoothed curves.
Rectangle Tool
Draws
rectangles and squares. Squares are created by using the Control key while
drawing. Used for creating basic rectangles and squares. Squares are created
when holding down the Control key as you draw. The flyout gives you the
three-point rectangle tool.
3-Point Rectangular Tool
Draw rectangles at an angle.
Ellipse Tool
Draws
ellipses and circles. Circles are created by holding down the Control key as
you draw. Used for creating basic elliptical (oval) shapes and circles. If you
need circles, hold down the Control key while drawing. The flyout give you the
three-point ellipse tool.
3-Point Ellipse Tool
Draw ellipses at an angle.
Polygon Tool
Draw polygons by dragging in the drawing window.
Star Tool
Draw
uniform, outlined star. This is a collection of 12 stars and star bursts. The
polygon tool will create a 5- pointed star but with internal lines. This tool
creates a 5-pointed star without internal lines.
Complex Star Tool
Draw stars that have
intersecting sides.
Graph Paper Tool
Draws
a collection of boxes that simulates a sheet of graph paper. The Graph Paper
Tool is used to create a group of identical boxes that simulate at sheet of
graph paper. When the Fly out is activated you can also select the Spiral and
Polygon Tools. Draw a grid.
Spiral
Tool
Draw symmetrical and
logarithmic spirals.
Basic Shapes Tool
This
is a collection of 15 basic shapes you can use as the foundation of an object.
Draw triangles, circles, cylinders, hearts, and other shapes.
Arrow Shapes Tool
Draw
arrows of various shape and direction. This is a collection of 21 different
types of arrows to use with a drawing.
Flowchart Shapes Tool
This
is a collection of 23 shapes commonly used in a flow chart. Draw flowchart
symbols.
Banner Shapes Tool
Draw ribbon objects and explosion shapes.
Callout Shapes Tool
This
is a collection of 6 text balloons for use as callouts in both cartooning and
technical drawing. Draw labels and speech bubbles.
Text Tool
Adds
either Artistic or Paragraph text to your drawing. Add and edit paragraph and
artistic text.
Table Tool
Draw, select, and edit tables. You can create rows and
columns using with tool and table menu also.
Parallel Dimension Tool
Draw slanted dimension lines.
Horizontal or Vertical Dimension
Draw horizontal or vertical
dimension lines.
Angular Dimension Tool
Draw angular dimension
lines.
Segment Dimension Tool
Display
the distance between end nodes on single or multiple segments.
3-Point Callout Tool
Draw a call out with a two-segment leading line.
Connector Line Tool
The
seventh tool on the Curves Flyout creates dynamic connectors between shapes as
in a flow chart. Its having 4 types of tools. Straight line connector tool,
Right angle connector tool, round right angle connector tool and edit anchor
tool.
Dimension Line Tool
The
eighth tool on the Curves Flyout creates dimension lines for technical and
architectural drawings.
Interactive Blend Tool
The
Blend Tool allows you to merger objects together through a series of steps. The
flyout gives access to several more interactive tools that are described on the
following pages.
Contour
Creates
a blend using the outline of the selected object. Much improved over previous versions of the effect.
Distort
Changes
an object based on the nodes that created the object. Default mode is called
Push-Pull, others are zipper and twister. The pattern and amount of distortion
is determined by the direction of drag, distance of drag and original location
of the nodes.
Envelope
Allows
you to distort an object by placing a container or envelope around the object
to constrain the distortion. Distortions can be mirrored on the object and the
direction of distortion is controlled.
Extrude
Allow
you to extend an object as if it were three dimensional. You can control the
fills, light source, and beveling of the surfaces.
Drop Shadow
Allows
you to create the illusion of a shadow for an object. Text will remain editable
and the shadow will reform as the text is edited. You can change the color,
edge feathering, and opacity of the shadow.
Transparency
Allows
you to create a screening effect over an image. You can change the color,
percent of cover, direction of the gradient, and type of gradient.
Eyedropper Tool
The
Eyedropper Tool allows you to select a color within an object, especially a
bitmap, and allows you to apply that color to another object. You can also
capture the color for a customized palette. The flyout gives access to the
paint bucket that applies the color.
Attributes eyedropper
it can
use for gradient and patterns and etc.,
Outline Tool
Sets
the outline style of an object or a line. This includes the line type, ends,
color, and weight. The flyout gives quick access to some changes.
Uniform Fill
Opens
a color dialog box that allows you to change palettes, mix colors, and apply
solid colors to selected objects.
Fountain Fill
Creates
a gradient fill. Gradients are formed by merging multiple colors together.
Pattern Fill
Fills
the object by tiling the pattern. You can select from one of the standard fills
or create custom fill patterns.
Texture Fill
Applies
a fractal fill. Textures are created using bitmap images. The texture can be
edited extensively by the user. Many sample fills are provided as a starting
point.
PostScript Fill
Fills
the object with a selected PostScript fill pattern. These will print only on a
PostScript printer. Because of the complex nature of these fills, they only
display in Enhanced View.
No Fill
Removes
the fill of selected objects. It is the same thing as selecting the invisible
fill from the Color Palette.
Color Docker
Used
to create color and apply it to either the Fill or Outline of an object.
Interactive Fill Tool
Allows
you to apply Fountain fills (gradients) using the mouse. The flyout gives
access to the Mesh fill Tool.
Mesh Fill Tool
A
type of fill that lets you add patches of color to the inside of a selected
object. If the mesh object contains color, adjusting the intersection nodes of
the mesh affects how the colors blend together.
Smear Tool
The Smear tool lets you shape an object by pulling extensions or
making indents along its outline.
Twirl
The
Twirl tool lets you create swirl effects by dragging along the edge of objects.
Attract
The
Attract tool lets you shape objects by attracting nodes to the cursor.
Repel
The
Repel tool lets you shape objects by pushing away nodes from the cursor.
Roughen tool
The
roughen tool lets you distort the outline of a vector object by dragging along
the outline.
