To apply one or more effects to more than one clip, first select the clips. Control-click each of the desired clips in the Timeline. Then, drag one effect or a selected group of effects to any of the selected clips. Select a clip, and then double click the effect.

Difference between  Effects and Transitions

Effects : Drag on Drop In selecting clip in track / selecting clip effects control.  Effects can apply more than two also, its apply direct clip. We can change controls and we can work keyframes.

Transitions :  You can apply only In Point and out point to the selecting clip.

Audio Effects and Transitions 

Working with audio, effects are apply total/ selecting clip. Transitions are apply in clip in point and outpoint.

 

Video Effects

Working with Video clips and images, effects are apply total/ selecting clip.  Effects are so many as there. You can change colors, keying’s, matte and etc., this all are using for editing and composting purpose.

Video Transitions 

Working with Video and images . Transitions are apply in clip in point and outpoint.
